Sari Feenstra: The Montana Scene Bozeman Manger

Where are you from or how did you end up in Montana?

I am a TRUE BOZEMAN, MONTANA native! I was born in Bozeman and have never left. I even bought my parent's house, so I really have lived on the same property my entire life! I love Montana and really think it is the most beautiful place in the world. When I was in high school, I really felt like I wanted to move away; I visited colleges all over the country but none of them felt like the right fit. I ended up going to MSU, received an amazing education, and I am so glad I did.

What is your favorite binge worthy show right now?

Big Brother on CBS is my obsession. It is on three days a week and I have not missed an episode of Big Brother since I started watching it 20 years ago! I love the competitions and love the social game as well! It’s so addicting.

Would you ever be on a reality TV show? If so, what?

I have always wanted to compete on Survivor. It is also a show that I watch religiously and have never missed an episode. My mom and I used to have a date night every week when it was on. We’d make dinner, share a bottle of wine, and watch Survivor (and yell at the TV) together. I think it would be a great test of your physical and mental strength, and strategy.  I also love the exotic locations they travel. I have always been a competitive person also, so the challenges seem like so much fun!

Are you a cat person or a dog person? Both? Why?

I am definitely a lover of both cats and dogs. I grew up more of a cat person. After I met my husband, he gifted me my first dog, Harvey. I was instantly in love and he has been the center of my world ever since. NOW, my husband and I have two cats; Mama Kitty who is 16 years old and I have had since I was in high school, and Richard (we got him right after we got engaged) is almost 10 years old. AND we have seven dogs! Yes, we go through A LOT of dog food. One of them recently had a litter of seven puppies, so currently we have 14 dogs! That sounds a bit crazy, but we LOVE them all and luckily, we have 30 acres for them to spread out and not bother the neighbors. I love everyone of my fur kids and wouldn't change it for the world.

What might someone be surprised to know about you?

I won a goat milking contest AND the cookie bake off at the county fair when I was in middle school. I grew up on a dairy farm.

What is your favorite podcast to listen to?

I cannot get enough True Crime Podcasts!  I am currently listening to Culpable and Crime  Junkie. Some of my all time Favorites are Up and Vanished, To Live and Die in L.A., Criminal, Heavyweight, and of course, Serial.

What is your perfect pizza?

Pepperoni, black olives, and jalapeno, and I then cover it with buffalo sauce and ranch dressing.

What is the best purchase you’ve ever made?

Lasik eye surgery! I don’t know if it is a purchase or more of an investment, but it is LIFE CHANGING! I had the procedure done nine years ago and really is the best decision I have ever made and I would do it again in a heartbeat. My husband also had it done and he feels the same!

How many pairs of shoes do you own?

In the last year, I discovered a love of Sorel's and have purchased WAY too many. I think I have purchased nine pairs of Sorels in the last eight months. In the summer, I live in flip flops or slip-on, I can’t stand to have anything touching the back of my heels (weird personal issue.) If I find a style of any shoe/boot/flipflop I like, I will buy multiples of the same thing.

If you were a t-shirt, what color would you be and why?

Yellow! It has always been one of my favorite colors and I am always drawn to it. I think it is a color that automatically makes you smile and brightens your day!

Maddie Cunningham: The Montana Scene Missoula Sales Associate

How long have you been working on the Montana Scene?

Since the first day it opened, two years ago in July, and I’ve loved every minute of it!

What was the last picture you took on your phone?

Well, my coworkers and I were playing with a FaceApp on my phone that can make you appear very old. Sean and Melissa Bonnet (our bosses) shared theirs on The Montana Scene’s Facebook page and they were so funny. So I did it too, and it turns out I won’t age well.

What would be on the gag reel of your life?

My entire life is a gag reel.

What might someone be surprised to know about you?

I won a limbo contest a few months ago and my back has still not recovered. Also, I bungee jumped in Mexico out of a 300 foot high, glass bottomed gondola.

What inspires you?

Something that inspires me almost more than anything is seeing genuine kindness and goodness from people. It’s one of the things that inspired me to go into nursing school! I like to think that hopefully I can inspire people the way nurses have inspired me. Something else that inspires me is people standing up for what they believe in no matter what people say or think.

When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried?

A few weekends ago a group of us were at karaoke and one of our friends went up and sang, “Hooked on a Feeling,” by Blue Swede. Everyone in the bar left besides us.

Who is your hero? Why?

My hero would have to be my dad. He is the strongest, bravest, kindest, most genuine and amazing person I know. I wouldn’t be half the person I am today without him in my life. He would do anything for anyone, even if it was someone who had done him wrong in the past.

Do you have a motto or personal mantra?

Pay it forward.

What do you wish other people knew about The Montana Scene?

I wish every person that walked through the door knew how amazing Melissa and Sean are to work for!

Stay tuned with The Montana Scene’s blog and you’ll be sure to meet the entire team! Until next time...
