 What inspires you?
I am always inspired by nature. But I think most people are! I draw a lot of my direct inspiration in life from being outside amongst wildflowers, mountains, rivers and the like. But right now I have been finding great inspiration in other people’s stories. I especially find myself drawn to women who create, whether it is an art or a trade. I am inspired by women in the world today who are being authentic in their lives and following their hearts. My instagram account is filled with women farmers, silversmiths, stay at home moms, tattooed motorcycle-riding ladies, homesteaders, jewelry makers and all the dreamers of the world. I love seeing people do what they love and it inspires me to do more of what I love.
What is your favorite way to spend your free time?
My free time is spent in one of two ways. Reading and writing or outdoor exploring! I try to balance the two. I absolutely love getting so drawn into a book or my own writing that I lose the sense of time and my surroundings. But I am also an avid anything outdoor enthusiast! You can find me backcountry skiing, rock climbing, kayaking, doing yoga, playing on aerial silks, tending to my garden or just hiking around being in nature. I try to fill as much of my free time as possible with the outdoors!

Where are you from? (How did you end up in Montana?)
I was born and raised in New Jersey, not 5 miles from the ocean. After graduating from the University of Vermont I lived a short stint in upstate New York before making my move out West. Almost 5 years ago I picked up and joined my older sister in Vail, CO to pursue my fantasy of being a ski bum. That is where I met my fiance, Jonathan, who is a Montana native. We have lived in too many places to count over the past years, but finally made the move to Montana in November 2018 and now plan to call this home for the foreseeable future.

What do you wish other people knew about The Montana Scene?
The Montana Scene gives back to the community in so many ways, and I wish more people knew this about them! They are so much more than a “souvenir shop” to stop in on vacation. They support countless local Montana artists, as well as some amazing artists from across the US. They employee amazing people who have only the sky's the limit within the company. The Montana Scene designs all their own artwork that you see on every piece of clothing and screen print it themselves! They are a team of immensely talented and creative individuals that operate more like a family than a business. They host community events in their stores and do incredible things like give local school teachers FREE school supplies!! I wish everyone could know all the amazing things this company does!
What might someone be surprised to know about you?
There is a lot that people do not know about me. I am quite good at asking others about themselves and avoiding questions about myself. BUT here are a few things that might surprise even some of my coworkers: 1. I am a certified Ashthanga Vinyasa Yoga Teacher 2. I worked for three years on an organic farm and even received a scholarship for new farmers to attend the annual national Organic Farming Conference 3. I used to keep bees, and it is my dream to do so again 4. I have my B.A. in Anthropology and African Studies and spent 5 months studying in Ghana during college. 5. In high school, I qualified for states in the 100-meter hurdles (I’m only 5’ 2’) 6. I used to dance Argentine Tango.

What is your favorite binge-worthy show right now?
My favorite show that I LOVE to binge-watch is "This is Us". I finished two seasons in a little over a week. Then I watched season three as fast as I could. And now, I'm impatiently waiting for season four. The show gets you so emotionally attached that you can't stop watching!
Where are you from? (How did you end up in Montana?)
I can proudly say that I am a Montana native. I was born in Bozeman, MT and raised in Logan, MT. I attended Manhattan Public School from K-12. I have family all over the state, from Glasgow to Kalispell, and back down into the Gallatin Valley.

How long have you been working at The Montana Scene?
I have been with The Montana Scene since December 2018, and it has been a great experience for me. The people I work with are some of the most incredible people I have met. Not only who I work with daily in Bozeman, but the gals in all the other stores are so helpful and easy to talk with as well! Overall, it is a great place to make connections with people.
What might someone be surprised to know about you?
I love to travel and visit new places, but one thing that always seems to shock people is that I have never been on a commercial plane. I have never in my 20 years on this earth been on a boarding flight. I will say, I have been in a plane, but it was a small private plane. And I was 18 when I sat in my first plane.
What type of music do you listen to?
My music taste is kind of all over the place. I listen to just about anything, but if I had to narrow it down, I would say country and folk music. Those genres gives me a sense of comfort and nostalgia. A majority of concerts I've been to have been country concerts. My favorite by far was seeing Cody Jinks and Red Shahan at the Wilma in Missoula!

What is your dream vacation?
My dream vacation might not be the typical laying out on the beach of Fiji drinking Pina Coladas and soaking in the sun. It would actually be a week-long backpacking trip in the Rockies with my dog. As much as I'd love to be on a beach, nothing beats being in the mountains and enjoying all of its beauty. My favorite part about backpacking is waking up, brewing coffee, and enjoying the views from the top of the mountain. And how can you not love the smell of pine needles first thing in the morning! That right there is a dream vacation.
Thank you for tuning in. Be sure to stay up-to-date with The Montana Scene Blog for new articles!
