Whitefish
The Whitefish Store
In June of 2016, about a year after the re-brand of the Bigfork Store, The Montana Scene came to Whitefish. At the corner of Central Avenue and E Second Street, The Whitefish Store was the perfect place to branch out and reach a new audience of people who love Montana. Melissa was particularly excited about this new location because Whitefish is where she grew up!
The Montana Scene Whitefish is continually highlighting our newest products and participating in community events. If you're in the Whitefish area be sure to follow their facebook page - The Montana Scene - Whitefish - to stay up to date on all of their adventures!
The Montana Scene Whitefish is open Monday - Saturday 10am - 6pm and Sundays 10am - 5pm.
148 Central Avenue Whitefish, MT 59937
Whitefish gets its name from the actual white fish, which was found in the lake in the mid 1850's. The town was originally nicknamed "Stumptown." The name Stumptown never stuck, but was a name that truly reflected the town at the time - the town was surrounded by stumps left after so many trees were cut down. The first permanent settler was John Morton and by the 1890's the logging crews were booming at the mouth of the river. The big defining moment for Whitefish came with the Great Northern Railway decided to put it's regional headquarters on the south end of the lake.
